Outer South Area Committee met this evening. Area Committees were set up by the council to ensure local priorities are taken into account and to deliver services in the way local people want. They’re open to the public and we encourage people to have a say. Councillors from Rothwell, Ardsley & Robin Hood and the two Morley Wards make up the committee. We met in Lofthouse and, unusually, there was no one from Rothwell in the audience.
We’ve recently secured £15,000 through the Area Committee to support the cost of delivering the Rothwell 600 celebrations - yes Rothwell is 600 years old next year!
£5,000 has been secured for community skips - if your group is having a clearout or clean up please get in touch and we’ll try and provide a skip for free.
We also discussed the public toilets on Midland Street, Woodlesford. These were closed some time ago following complaints and due to ‘unsavoury activity’ taking place. Someone now wants to purchase them and we’ve said we’re in agreement as long as the money raised is kept and put towards providing some modern facilities to replace them and which won’t have the same problem .
